Default 964 C4 very hard to start with cold engine in warm ambient temperatures

Hello all,

Recently my 1993 964 Carrera 4 has a developed a strange problem. In the morning when it is relatively cool, the car starts just fine, even after having sat for several days in the garage. When I park it all day at work in relatively warm ambient temperatures (28°C / 82°F), the engine is very hard to start when I want to return home. It cranks OK but it takes ages to catch on. Pumping the accelerator does not help, although it seems that holding the accelerator all the way to the floor while cranking does help. It seems as if there is no fuel or no spark. Once it has started, it starts fine after subsequent shutoffs.

Any idea what could be wrong? It really seems to be ambient temperature related.

Regards,

No, I have not had the codes read yet. I suppose I need to have it done by someone with a diagnostic tool?
