Default Muffler delete

Ok so today at the shop I was speaking to the mechanic about dong the side muffler exhaust delete. He suggested rennspeed. He said both muffler deletes will be too loud unless tracking etc... Any suggestions?

IMHO Cobalt has one of the best sets up out there considering cost, power, and sound.
https://rennlist.com/forums/6662481-post16.html

For a totally different approach and a lot of $$ saved. I went with a simple 100Cell cat replacement and a magnaflow muffler 3" in and out along with G pipe. I replaced the primary and secondary mufflers saving nearly 40 pounds off the rear of the car. Performance was improved tremendously. Dyno charts show 248 RWHP and 237 rwtq. with only a cup air box as the only other mod.The curve is ideal and car pulls very strong. I have seen fabspeed header cars run another 10 hp and torque but that is about it and IMO not worth spending the extra $$ on.

IMO along with almost everyone at the track I come across says it is one of the best sounding 911's of any vintage they have ever heard. It is not quiet but it is not obnoxiously loud either. It does not drone at any RPM range and even under WOT you can hear the exhaust and listen to the radio without having to raise the volume to ridiculous levels. In all I think the cost was around $1200 installed including fabrication of SS piping and mounting.

Alternatively you might reach out to Troy Chapman @ EBS (RL sponsor, no affiliation) for various Dansk bypass parts. Very professional and timely service and hyper-competitive pricing when I'd purchased there.

Dansk parts have fit perfectly w/o any finessing.

Both muffler deletes is/are loud. Precludes sneaking in after a late night boozer with the lads. But, locally here I've been approached dozens of times over the last couple years with envious inquiries from other 911 owners on how I'd achieved the sound. Admittedly a personal issue, but I love the following: OE manifolds > Fabspeed euro pre-muffler > primary BP > secondary BP > tip. Car is more track than street though. Loud ? Yes. To me, good NVH !

I wonder if a high quality SS muffler of appropriate ID couldn't be fab'd into the center of a primary b/p; assuming euro pre-muffler or race cat/primary/secondary for a VERY cost effective performance improved exhaust.

If anyone knows of a suitable non restrictive stainless muffler that could be made to work as an "inserted" replacement section of a primary BP, I'd like hear of such.

You can get a G pipe for ~$100-$150 used. If you do it yourself, it takes less than 30 minutes to install. I did this a couple weeks ago and the sound is great. It's louder than stock, but not too loud that I'll wake up the neighbors.

Any brands etc. I found one on craigslist but looked pretty rough. Also you need a new exhaust tip?

how does this compare to the setup of:
cat bypass and keep the primary muffler and loose the secondary muffler?

its my understanding that most good shops in the NE advocate this as the way to be maximium free flow power out of a 964 motor.

There are many opinions which way to go i.e. primary bypass with CUP Pipe or secondary bypass with G-pipe. One sounds slightly different than the other, but it seems that there is one point on which all agree and that is, the primary muffler is the most restrictive of the two.

That is correct, heat exchangers to cat to primary to secondary.

I have a cat bypass and a primary bypass (Cup pipe) on my car, I kept the secondary muffler, it has a nice mellow sound not too loud.If you bypass both mufflers it gets way too loud. I would recommend you do one or the other, but not both, the choice of which muffler you bypass is up to you, like I said in my first post, there are many different opinions on that subject, and the only real difference is the cost of the G-pipe vs. the Cup pipe, the latter being the more expensive.

I think I found a g-pipe from a member for a good price. No name on the pipe he bought used but too loud for him. Even offered to help me install how can I go wrong with that.
