Default Engine Hunting / stalling

My car has recently started to Stall at low revs and the idle has started hunting.

I pulled off one of the vaccuum hoses and that has stopped the problem, i know that isnt the answer.

What should be my first port of call in my investigation ?

incidently the exhaust gases are reading very high, with and without the vaccuum hoses connected.

No other parts have been changed or any settings tampered with for a long time before the problem occured.

Check the idle microswitch to make sure it is depressed with foot off the gas. Mine was not engaging and I had problems with the engine hunting and stalling.

Has the lambda sensor ever been replaced? They wear over time and replacing it is simple. This often solves problems with, high emission values, stalling, hunting idle and hesitation. For me, this would be the first thing to replace/check.

Clean the ISV off the car with carb cleaner or just WD40. Use a Qtip after spraying generously and turn the slider around cleaning at the same time. DO NOT use a screw driver or anything that can scratch or mar the surface. Hook up a 12v to it and check that it is turning completely around with voltage. 90% probably the cause.

funny, I've tried this several times, and that's not fixed my issue. Call me the 5%-er, then.

Default Low voltage

I have the RS generator drive pulley system causing low charging at idle. If the battery state of charge is low I get hunting idle and delayed activation of the HVAC fans. When the battery has been recharged to an S.O.C of 100% the idle is stady at 880 rpm and the fans activate immediately when a new speed is selected. It seems that the 964 electronics is sensitive to the input drive voltage.
And yes, I have cleaned the ISV.

I have not changed anything in the engine bay in the last few years, the coils got changed a couple of years ago as did the flywheel sensor.
I had a new clutch about a year ago, changed the spark plugs while the engine was out.

Everything has been undisturbed for at least 1 year.

I will try cleaning the ISV

The car has regular runs of over 50 miles so i thought that would be ok to keep the battery charged, the engine fires within 1 second of turning the key every time.

Is the ISV easy to remove or is there anything i should be aware of ?

ISV is easy to remove. From memory, I had trouble reusing the original hose clip.

It could be that the AFM wiper track is worn. There is a procedure to remedy that. AFM Rebuild

Is the AFM used at idle? I know it's not at WOT but not sure if it is at idle?

The AFM sends a signal indicating the position of the flapper, and thus the amount of air flow. If it is worn it could be sending a noisy signal. This is what I was thinking.
