Default Replacing engine mounts

Not that I believe it will be a difficult operation but is there a DIY on Rennlist or anywhere else for replacing the 964 engine mounts. I have bought a set of WEVO engine mounts and before I begin I though a bit of research may be in order.
I looked in the 964 DIY section but could not find anything. It may be so easy that it does not warrant a DIY. (I hope)

Support the engine with a floor jack (just until the engine moves up a few millimeters). Undo the 19 mm nut underneath the mount - you'll need a long extension and a breaker bar and might have to remove the middle silencer (wasn't necessary with my cup pipe). Put plenty of penetrating oil on the nut first. Remove the two 13 mm bolts on the top side of the mount. Remove it and fit new one in reverse order.

I did one at a time and then finally tightened the lower 19 mm nuts to 85 nm.

Thaks Steve
I was guessing it was fairly straight forward. Here's hoping that there are no little problems along the way.
cheers Ken

As Boxesy911 says... i would add that to remove the engine mount on the left of the engine compartment (driver's side in the U.S.), there's a muffler shield that will first have to be removed in order to access the 19mm nut. The shield is simple to remove (2 or 3 10mm nuts/screws as I remember).

Start putting penetrating oil on the nuts now. And a couple of times a day until you attempt to loosen them.

Did mine yesterday. No problem getting the large nuts off on the bottom with the impact. No oil necessary on my car.

There is a procedure here for the 993 but I think the procedure should be similar. There are lots of other good DIYs (again, mainly 993-oriented) here.

yellowducman - Did mine yesterday.
Wevos? Is your car set up for the street, how do they feel... brief N.V.H. report? Do you have a lot more noise in the cabin?
Thanks in advance,
Udo

Default motor mounts

Put Wevos on 1 month ago with the softer cushions...black...do feel some more engine vibration thru the car at idle but goes away with driving. shifting more precise and minimal roughness above 4000...just feel the engine more. The torque setting for these are in the 45ft lb range as specified by wevo not the 63 ft lbs for the OEM mounts. Change out was easy since I had already removed the undercarriage. I did find that the OEM nuts holding the carrier to the mount did not cover the entire end of the end of the carrier which worried me thus I put a washer larger than the end of the carrier between it and the nut to ensure a uniform pressure of attachment to the black cushion/washer at the other end of the carrier where it is forced against the cushion. I have had a very good experience and have purchased a reinforced carrier which is my next task.

Well, the new Wevo engine mounts are all installed. This on a scale of 10 was a 2 job - easily done. Many thanks to OzBob for his time, tools and assistance and not to forget lunch. Also to Wevo - great service, 5 days from America to Australia for the parts. I would highly recommend them.

The exhaust tip has moved up about 5-10 mm so I need to adjust that but I believe it also means that the old mounts had died (and probably died quite some time ago).

I have been noticing for some time that the gear shift is getting very notchy. hard to engage 1st at standstill, worse when everything gets hot and after the engine mounts change it is probably a little worse. Any ideas, suggestions? - new clutch, other suggestions. The car has about 130,000K or 88K miles.

Thanks everyone for their help and suggestions.

I would first try bleeding your clutch slave cylinder.

Just did mine. Replaced with stock mounts. Very easy. However, it seemed that when I went to screw on the main bolt from below, it turned more revolutions with the new mounts... Perhaps the bolt was longer. My car seems much happier. Will report later on if I notice any shifting/handling effects...

Replaced mine with 993 mounts - 75% of the price of the 964 mounts in the UK. They go straight in - no problem. The C2 & C4 Coupe ones are handed, the C4 Cab, Targa & Turbo are not - don't ask me why!

Entertaining side light to this thread: Not one mention of removing the undertray.
