Default Cup Spring Rates/shock valving

Anyone, know what the maximum spring rate a factory carrera cup strut can handle with the original shock valving? I've got some info between 6-800 but don't have definative info...

That is a difficult question to answer because being a non adjustable damper, it is always a compromize setup that cannot be "tuned" to a particular situation. The stock springs are progressive up to 600 in the front and up to 800 in the rear. I suspect that you can be within 1-200lbs spring rate of that and be Ok, but again a lot will depend on the weight of your car. There is also different valving between the years and differences in the Cup car's weight depending on options. My $.02

Thanks Geoffrey, thats the info I had, I just had a set of 800/1000 hypercoils but wasn't sure the valving could take it, might just have to dump it go coilover and do it right...trying to lighten it up as much as possible but it's tough to get it under 2650...and keep it in class.

You might just try it but you'll need to have the driver skill to evaluate it...
