Default DME relay

I hear this over and over. Is there anywhere that shows you how to replace it and where it is etc...

The DME relay is under the font hood in a plastic box that has lots of fuses and relays in it .
Pop the top of the box off and have a look see .

Does this mean any fuse or is there a specific fuse to fix and if so any pictures anywhere of this?

In the front fuse box in the trunk of the car under the light, their are some relays (small plastic boxes). The DME Relay is, I think in position R41 (check on the label inside the lid). Get yourself a new one and change them over.
Here's a pick of a 993 fuse box showing the relays etc. The DME Relay might not be in the same position as indicated though, so check on the lid!

PS - They just pull out, but may be a bit stiff!

These great photos you guys do are invaluable! Very, very helpful.

I didn't have a DME relay problem, but a rear blower problem and the photo helped me fix the problem perfectly.

Just been down to my local OPC to buy one of these as a spare. They wanted £62 and didn't have one in stock. Where's the best place to get them these days? Read a fair bit about them prior to buying my 964 and it seemed the general consensus was they were £20-30. And now I look at those pics above, those '53' relays are exactly the same as the stockpile I've already got from countless mk2 Golfs. So is there a chance I've already got a DME relay at home already and I just don't know it?

It's not a Porsche manufactured one, but likely the same thing and you could buy 2 for less in case one breaks!

It's the same as I've had in my car for about 4 years and no issues to-date.

Yeah, found a genuine one on eBay for £30. Wasn't sure about getting non-genuine unless it was OEM, and I have no idea who the OEM actually was... Spotted a few on eBay for £20-ish but wasn't keen as I'd never heard of the manufacturer, and if it does fail I want the replacement to work!
