Bought my 964 targa from 911virgin 2 years ago, and had a test drive.
Targas suffer from wind noise, creak, and there's a good chance of leaks. A garage would be essential in my view.
Get some good shocks, the geo setup correctly and you've got yourself a fantastic handling car. Not as stiff a coupe, but can be improved with a strut brace.
Then the sun comes out, and off comes the roof (try that in a coupe). Personally, I'm ok with the targa styling, but it's not for everyone. I think it's better in darker colours.

I just got a Targa after owning several air cooled 911 coupes and am delighted with mine.
No leaks squeaks or rattles ( 50k mile car). I am happy with the looks, especially the shape of the rear screen.with the heated seats and good air flow i enjoy topless driving even on fairly cold dry days. For
me the targa suits the tactile 964 and feels alive.New suspension ordered (KW3) and i think i will leave
it standard for this year at least.Intend to get another 3.6t or RS someday as well but i think this will be a keeper.Try one !
