hi all
i dont know if i am trying to look on the bright side ,but is it possible for oil to leak if the car is parked sideways across a hill so the car is leaning over to its left quote steeply,
i got up this morning to a large oil leak on the floor but when i have moved the car to a level surface no oil is leaking?????????????
any advice would be appreciated.

Do you have the engine tray on? If yes, the oil could be leaking and pooling on the tray and only dripping when the car is slanted. I would remove the tray, clean the bottom of the engine well and then drive the car. Then look for fresh oil to find the source of the leak.

When the car is leaned over to the left side; if you draw a vertical line, where is the pool of oil in relation to the engine/transmission?

hi,
the oil pool is forming about a foot inside the left rear wheel and around a foot back from the wheel,
under the left rocker cover sort of area....

There is always a bit of oil on the inside of the lower valve cover, when the car is tipped to the left you will have quite a lot of oil, around 2 liters, in that area, I would check the gasket on that valve cover, it is a fairly easy job; put in a new one and check for leaks.

I had a big oil leak that was intermittant.... It turned out it was an oil return tube seal that was damaged at the top part of the seal.
So, it would leak depending on situation.. Some days nothing would leak, then occasionally it would leak a cup or more...
