Default Oil Level Sensor Signal Type?

Anyone know what sort of signal is sent by the oil level sensor? It does not appear to be simple resistance. I want to use the oil level sensor with my MoTeC and the MoTeC dealer I use is not a Porsche guy so he doesn't know and since it's not a simple resistance reading I'm not able to get it to work ... Anyone have experience that will help here?

The oil level sending unit is a resistor based sensor and operates just like a thermister (oil temp sender). Install it on an unused Aux T channel and use the following calibration:

6 ohms = 2
110 ohms = 1
211 ohms = 0

This will show the oil level in relation to how many quarts you need. I cannot remember at the moment exactly how I set it up whether full was showing 2 or 0. On the warm up screen you can use the RPM graph to display the oil level which should be at 1 when idling hot ie in the middle of the two marks on the stick.

Obviously there are many different ways to set it up, this is how I did mine.

Geoffrey: Once again, thanks. When mine was set up Dave didn't know what to expect and all I get is a number that bounces all over the place. This should allow me to get it configured correctly. Thanks.

The number will bounce around due to the oil level changing at idle. This is why using the RPM graph works well.
