Default Relieved!!!!

Well, today was the day I decided to bring the car out of hibernation. I read stories of other people having driveability issues after starting their 911's after a prolonged period of time. I was expecting the worst (not holding idle, christmas tree of lights etc)

Made sure the battery was fully charged and securely connected. Turned the key and

She fired up instantly. Held an idle perfectly and had no lights on on the dash.

Let it idle for 10 minutes or so and backed her out of the garage for her first run of the year. Ran flawlessly. No smoke. No idle issues. No lights. No flat spots on the tires.

Damn I'm in love all over again. 6 Months is a long time to not drive a 911. Can't believe I missed out on my first 35 years of life not having access to a car like this.

Anyways, contrary to what others do, I just turned the key and started the car. I didn't pull the fuel pump relay and prime the engine. I just started it and had no issues. Surprisingly, it ran smooth right away.

Hopefully she treats me great this season!!!!!

Happy motoring everyone. Enjoy your 911

I know the feeling. I started driving my 964's again about 2 weeks ago. As the factory says "There is no substitute".

I had the pleasure of enjoying my 911's company today....life is good when you're in a 911.

I've been doing that for the past 20 seasons with no issues ever. The only thing I don't do is let the car idle for 10 minutes- that's not good for the car, and the one thing I do which may not make a difference is fill tires w/about 50 psi before storage, so I of course need to lower the pressure back to recommended levels.

I just drive it easy until the oil warms up. I also take it on the highway for a few miles sometimes you feel the slightest pulsation from the tires, but once they warm up no flat spots.

Have fun- you are on this earth exactly 1 time

You guys need to move to California. I put 1300 miles on my 1990 C2 since December. Then again, costs a fortune to register and limited on certain mods. Glad to see you agree there is NOTHING like a 964!

I thought I read somewhere that the car needed to idle for a good ten minutes or so to let the computer reset itself?

I've only heard that warming up any car like that is bad- even in the winter. Best thing is to give the car 10 seconds or whatever to stabilize the idle (maybe 3-4 seconds in warm weather 10+ seconds on a 20 degree day), then drive the car easy to let motor/tranny etc warm up.

Car looks GREAT by the way! Black coupe 911 will always be a classic! (just like a black cabriolet 911 )

I pulled mine out of storage a couple of weeks ago as well... fired right up. Changine the oil next weekend... I only ran it to work and back one day, but man it was a blast.
Derek, Your car looks great! I have a soft spot for black on black
(should have got a shot outside...)
