Just came back from a drive and amazingly the pin was sticking out enough for me to grab it and pull it out. I put the seat half forward and was able to now slide a flat screwdriver blade in the gap to stop the bolt sliding back inside while I reattached the ****. All done!

Seriously, I can't believe it came out as it appeared that the spring was asserting quite a strong hold on it. I found an old thread on the 911 board with the same problem and the poster appeared similarly stumped.

Thanks for all the help guys! It was bugging the hell out of me all day again, odd how something so tiny can really nag at your mind. Guess I'll sleep tonight now!
