Little red ****
My 8 year-old has unscrewed one of the small red ***** that enable the rear seats to fold forwards. It should simply screw back on but the threaded shaft that it attaches to is spring loaded and it has retreated inside the recess. I have removed the screw on top of the fitting to see if I can access but at first attempt this does not appear to have any bearing.
Is there an easy way to reattach?

Nothing has broken inside, just the little red pull-lever has been screwed off. I'll have to take another look. All I need is to get one bit of thread so I can start to screw it back on...

Thanks for the pictures. I do understand how simply it works. I just couldn't see how taking the seat-back off would help.
Cannot be pushed from other side. Its against the center 'hump' between the seats.
Maybe I could spot glue something to the end and pull it out far enough the grab with pliers or something?
A 3rd grader is about to be strangled.....

howard, having the '92 MY, I don't have back seat cushions BUT.... can you get a screw driver on the head, and push the threaded part back thru so you can rethread the ****? I'd hate for your know to sit useless

As I don't have any rear seats just now, I'm taking a guess - can you get a small screwdriver blade down between the arch of the seat hinge fitment on the car and the edge of the hinge for that seat, to kind of wriggle the rod back out through the hole?
Edit: Didn't read Hawk's post first...

If the screw driver doesn't work, try pushing something like a paper towel down in and around the screw. Use a toothpick or nail to really get it in beside the threads. Then, while wiggling the seat back to ensure the pin is loose, gently pull the paper towel out. It should drag the threaded pin out along with it.
Sheesh! I'd have thought this a fairly simple fix. How's the 3 yr old?
