Nice one Pete, fingers crossed for the test drive . Coincedently I looked at mine on the other side last week....it was also bent and corroded, so straightened it up and cleaned/painted it and is all the better for it.

I want to recommend the fix outlined here: https://rennlist.com/forums/6469167-post14.html
I made the cuts mentioned, and it fixed my tire rubbing. No need to roll the fenders.

With the correct diameter tyres, correct offset rims, you should easily run 225 if not 235's up front.
I run 235 fronts and the only mod i needed was to slightly shave the bit of metal that the horn hooks up to inside the front right guard and that only rubbed on full lock in slow manouvering, not on the track.
I run cup one rims with 52 offset and also run 235/18's on cargraphic rims with 52 offset and no issues at all.
I have 3 deg negative camber up front and it drives beautifully, road and track and I can keep a 996 GT3 honest on the track.
I have never required to roll my guards.
BTW, if you want the best track tyres, you should go to Dunlop Direzza DZ03G in 225/45/17 up front in M compound and 255/40/17 rear in R compound. If you have a lot of hot track days over 25deg celsius, opt for R compound front and H compound rear.
Both Dunlop DZ03G and the Bridgestone RE55's are proven in most tests to be up to two seconds a lap quicker than the R888's.
