thanks to everyone who responded to my question regarding the climate control fan not functioning properly and shutting off when the temperature **** was turned to a hotter seting.
it turned out it a blown 25amp fuse in the rear fusebox that controls the blower(fuse#1)
fan works great now at all temperatures
appreciate the feedback and help resolving this issue!
here are some better photos of my 964

William,
Please make sure that you replace that fuse with a 30 amp part. A 25 amp fuse will blow again very soon. Porsche increased the fuse rating in 1990 because of the tendency of the 25 amp part to blow - often when the blower starts up. A 30 amp part will prevent a re-occurrence.
Regards
Dave

Nice looking car! is that LED near shifter part af an alarm system?
Also, a question: If CCU controls are all turned off, what is the rear blower fan supposed to do? Mine cycles on and off so a little help with my gremlin would be very appreciated!

I think the rear blower is also for supplemental cooling of the engine. It might be coming on due to a signal coming from the coil resistor that's in the pipe. Look on the left side of the pipe, down at about the same horizontal level as the dist. caps - crammed against the side of the engine compartment. There should be a resistor in there, (looks like a heavy coil of wire)... also there is a temp sensor poked into the top of the pipe that might be bad, causing the fan to run more than is necessary.
Just two guesses...

The ballast resistor - the coil in the left side of the pipe - is purely passive. It just reduces the current to the blower to provide the "slow" speed. The NTC sensor in the top of the pipe is the thing that detects the temperature of the air from the engine cooling and this WILL cause the blower to run if it's faulty.
Under normal circumstances the rear blower should not run unless the temperature selector on the CCU is moved off of the blue dot.
