Default 1990 964 C2 purchase

all,

found a 1990 C2 in california that looked good from seattle..

silver/black...105K miles...5 speed with new clutch/starter/alternator/brakes/tires and full service 2K ago...2 minor oil leaks at valve covers and usual weep from cam cover on right side.

service records since 30K miles and owners service book is stamped from new dealership stamp Vaskek Polak to 32K miles..all stamps from Vaskek

had a friend in san diego look it over and had a PPI done 2 days ago....excellent original paint/perfect interior..even the drivers bolster is hardly worn.

overall PPI results are very good...compression#'s: 180,179,182,179,183,181

the car was thoroughly checked for rust and there are 2 small spots just under drivers side window seal...the windshield was replaced at 95K miles so i assume the installer did not glue the seal properly or he scratched the paint in that areawhen he did the job

the owner agreed to take $1500 off the asking price for the rust issue which i will have repaired when i get the car home to seattle.

i will pay $14K for the car which i feel is a fair deal considering the recent clutch/etc...the seller also included 2 sets of distributor caps/rotors and plugs for the next service.

if anyone wants to have sushi in san rafael tuesday night i'll be in town driving home.

looking forward to the drive home!

william

Sounds like a great deal, especially considering the color and recent work done.

Congratulations!

(I wonder if you still be searching for that 993 C4S in 6 months from now... )

Any reason for not doing the leak down test?

if compression numbers were weak i would have done a leakdown...since the numbers were fairly strong, i opted to save the $350 on the leakdown cost and put it toward the hookers & booze on the drive home

oh, just don't tell my wife

Times are tuff in California. You will either be able to buy a lot of booze, or save money on the way home.
