Becker in-dash Radio/Nav
Anyone got one of these in a 964?
How well does it work and does it integrate well with the look of the dashboard?
Is the nav by graphics as well as text/audio?

There is a pretty long thread on the 993 forum about installing that radio.
IIRC the problem with using it in a 964 is that there is no speed sensor data line, so the "directions" function of the GPS doesn't work.

From: Dallas, then Annapolis - now Laguna Beach CA. Well, not so fast - I'm back in Dallas. For good!
I've got one too. The post in the 993 board has a ton of detail.
Sound quality is very good, but not as good as some modern readios. It does look great in the dash - even illuminates with the PORSCHE logo.
Nav portion actually works amazingly well given the single-DIN size - and provides some graphic as well as voice (I use the British female..!) directions. The big problem is the NAV discs are old - circa late 90s - and updates are NOT avail.

I am in the middle of installing one in my car. Of course I broke the coax lead at the radio but I am sure that once I get it in, it will be great. Here https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...highlight=FIND is the original thread. Plenty of info there.

It DOES look good, I agree.
It seems, at least for us in the UK, the nav is up to date too.
Sire, surely the decklid lead in the console only has an on/off signal around 80kmh doesn't it - does it actually have a proper speed signal?

The PO put a Becker Nav unit in my car but I don't know what model it is. All the books are in the car (which is with my mechanic) but I seem to remember it is out of a Land Rover! Does have an original look to it though.

Mitch,
I have one of these myself for my 993 but didn't install it yet. Are you running this unit without an external AMP? I mean just the headunit and then wired directly to the speakers? Reason for asking is that the 993s with the HiFi-option all have an external amå under the passenger seat (nokia I think). I just wonder what the difference in sound will be with or without the ext. amp.
