Caliper restoration
When inspecting the brake calipers prior to installing new pads I found that the stainless steel plates had risen due to corrosion and dirt accumulation.
Using a small torch to heat up the bolts and loosen the thread adhesive I then tried to undo the bolt. No success. The bolt was rusty and finally the allen key slipped.
Using a MIG my neighbour helped me to weld an M6 bolt to the the Allen head. Now the bolt sheared off when trying to loosen it.
Welded on a new bolt and reinforced it by welding on more metal to it.
Now the bolt was red hot and we were finally able to loosen it.
Then it was a simple process of repeating for the rest of the bolts!
