Just thinking out loud here...
Vibration on the shift lever can be from many sources. I am guessing it is pronounced since you feel is not a normal vibration.
The shifter slides over a pipe that is held in place with two rubber bushings and two clips. If these deteriorate you will have more than just vibration...
Do you have the stock engine mounts? It could also be that engine mounts have gone bad and are transmitting vibration... but it would do so along the rev range... not just at a certain speed...
Are you sure that that vibration comes from the shifter and not tires that need to be balanced? But those would manifest all over the car... humm...

Dear Wachuco,
im avvrobin from italy, do you rember ( the vibration on manual trasmission contol of 964 c 4) .
I have read your answer, and have taken apart the trasmission manual control, with great surprise I have not found bearing sleeve and circlip (n° 26, and 28 on PET porsche n° parts 96442422401). as I can mount it.
because the bearing sleeve is a oring. is easy to mount the pipe or central tube to introduce the oring ?
thank you for help me.
regards

Robert,
I received your pm, posting here in case we have other members from Italy that might be able to help and communicate better in Italian... I am learning Italian but it will take me years before I can speak it or write to make any sense...
You mentioned in your PM that the vibration is back.
We need to narrow down where the vibration is coming from...
Clutch
CVJ - drive axel cuscinettos (ball bearings)
Is the noise the same when you disinnestare la frizione (disengage the clutch) ?
ciao a presto,
Jaime

dear ,
your italian is better than my english.
i haven t double mass clutch but more simply sigle mass.
and i have changed the rubber disc.
i suppose the problems are in bearings *****. is possible to change em into the central tunnel? because the mount engine and trasmission is ok.
i saw in rennlist forum in search vibration trasmission many important discussion.
thank you

I know you keep coming back to the central tunnel bearings... but have you checked the CVJs? (Constant Velocity Joints). These are the bearings in the drive shafts (transmission to the wheel hubs).
If they are bad they can give you drivetrain vibration like the one you describe.
I have never taken out the torque tube (central tunnel) in the 964 but I always thought that failure in the torque tube was rare... more common on 944 (this one I have taken out a couple of times when replacing the clutch in my 951) and 928 than in our cars.
