Rob, I am probably being a bit thick but I'm not sure I understand the question? Are you asking if a 993 seal fits on a 964? Cheers, --Howard

I wondered about that.
I don't know if it's any good, but Getty do a flush mount frame kit. Check out page 21 of the PDF here:
http://www.gettydesign.com/PDF%20Fil...%20Catalog.pdf

or is that just for racing?

Who's installing???? It's not rocket science. If I ever have to do a 993, I probably won't. But the 964 and the gasket that's ditched the metal trim (like the up-to-1989 cars) is beyond simple!

Someone on this forum has done this and said it worked but there was a trim piece that you had to buy to make it pretty .

I will go a hunting for the thread .

Wow, I had a new 964 windshield installed last Summer, the guys beat the hell out of it with their palms to get it to sit in the channel correctly and didn't break it...I kept wincing/grimmacing when they would pound on it.

They had to remove it and come back the next day because of another appt. and the guy wanted another one of his "skilled" techs to help him. They did a good job but had a helluva go at it.

These windshields are getting rare...and EXPENSIVE. Stories of $1,200 windshields have shown up in various places...I was lucky, called around and happened to find a shop that had one laying around because a customer ordered it a couple years ago and never paid for it.

SO, I got it for about $650 with a NEW seal.

As for the 993 install, I'm not certain either...nor have I heard of it...but I would guess it's possible to pull it off?

You can remove a glued in window .
I have watched it being done .
You have one guy inside , one guy outside ,
they pull a wire to cut the glue .

I just did it! I now have a 993 window with the seals and everything. Looks really good and more modern compared to the 964 window. I'll see if I can take a pic. The seal is smaller so the paint has to be good around the edges otherwise it will look bad. This could be a good upgrade if you're doing rust repairs around the windows inlcuding new paint.

here's a pic. It's not a good one but it's not easye to get a good angle. Aside from the smaller seal, also note the black edges in the glass as on "moderns cars".

I really like it!

I've posted this before. It's a great deal for someone local. They don't ship though.
