4 time was the charm - the 3rd attempt was aborted by me (they guys were idiots)
ending up tiking it to a very established shop for the install and we went witht he stock (new) 964 gasket and sanded the upper part of the windshield to make it easy to slip in with out a lot of beating on it. It rolled right in after that.
and is totally stock.

i decided not to use the 993 seal due to the way the headliner wraps around the metal lip- you would have to trim the headliner where it is glued, weakening the hold and possibly running the risk of a loose headliner. Plus its not stock looking.

ended up being $617 for Sigla glass w/ antenna.

the bonus is that my Blau Toronto now works great (removed the Alpine as it does not look great in there).
car should be happy again but we'll see since i went ahead and bought another Daily driver with its key on the left. (the Defender 90) and a usable back seat for my daughter that i can keep a child seat in full time finally.
call me practical (well not really....)

Oh man, great to know. I need to replace mine as the area around there rear view mirror seems to be shattered.

Was that just the price for the windshield or that includes the labor?

both glass and labor in the shop.
the prices for an OEM windshield at the local dealer was 1200 for the same glass ironically (no labor)

No hijack intended, but with your new, perfect glass I can recommend applying some windshield protectant film.

I had my wind shield 'filmed' right after getting a new windshield, and I've never regretted it.

I believe the stuff came from ProLine. Their demos sold me when I was contemplating the deal. (They used a spring-loaded center punch: on regular windshield glass, it made an instant spider web fracture. With the film, though, only a small white dot was left in the plastic. Amazing stuff.)
Mine was applied by MIshield in San Diego, CA.

Cost is about the same as a new windshield. Made mucho, mucho sense to me.

Together with my full front clear bra film, I drive pretty relaxed (rock chip-wise) in traffic and track.

this is an interesting idea.

"we went with the stock (new) 964 gasket and sanded the upper part of the windshield to make it easy to slip in with out a lot of beating on it. It rolled right in after that.

does this mean you used 993 glass in a 964 seal?
have you seen anyone use 993 glass with 993 seals? did it work with the headliner and all?
