Default Valve adjustment. Big Job?

Detected a little tick. Top end has been gone through no too long ago. Is an adjustment a big deal?

Wouldn't term it a 'big' deal. More of an 'extensive' deal.
Same as adjusting valves on an old 4-banger asian car, except the valves aren't on top and at waist level (more like shin/knee level) and they're behind engine encapsulation tins that will need to be removed to gain easier access.
...which means removing the four bolt flanged exhaust catalyst, too.

Oh, and the valve gap point sits recessed, meaning if you're using a feeler gauge to gap it'll really help to get the 911-custom type feeler.

Otherwise, it's like any other screw/locking-nut valve adjust.
Do a search around here and you'll find plenty of guidance + pictures.
Good luck w/ your decision.

This thread https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...your-self.html Has a ton of info. Do you have Adrian's book? Makes a big difference. Really the biggest pain is taking things off, like exhaust and engine tin. The actual adjust is pretty easy. Just take your time, and check everything more than once. Good luck.

Check out the "valve adjusting screwdriver" thread below. Buy one, it should make getting the initial setting easier. also, get the angled feeler gauge as suggested.

Thanks guys. I'll have to do a little research and see if I feel confident. I'm glad you don't have to drop it. Whew!
Newsboy- where on the Cape are you? I grew up summering in Dennisport. We had a house there. I miss it.

I'ver got an uncle in West Dennis and a neice in Hyannis. I remember breaking down in Buzzards bay with some buddies back in the 80's and the cops dropped us off on Old Rt 6 so we wouldn't get run over and we hitchhiked to Dennisport. Ah the memories.
