Default Different rear brake calipers?

Hi guys, this is my first post and I am a new Porsche and 964 owner. I have a 89 UK delivered 964. I have noticed that the left rear brake caliper is different from the right (left has porsche decal, right is polished and matches both front calipers). Is this normal for my model or has the left caliper been changed with the wrong part at some previous stage? My mechanic seems to think it's wrong but this will cost me hundreds to change. Thanks in advance, Scott

that's not a good sign. The calipers must be the same on each axle. And all four calipers have to be of a model that is supposed to work together. Replace it at once!

Hi Scott,

Glad to see another 964 enthusiast on Sydney streets, I don't recall seeing a UK refugee advertised? Is it a personal import?
Happy to share local knowledge of suppliers and workshops. Send me a PM.

PS. Agree with previous advice, mismatched calipers seems odd to say the least, dangerous in a worst case.

I my have found something that may be of interest. Under the "red or yellow calipers" thread there is a quote from dave:

Does this mean the my 89 C4 could have different rear calipers (raised writing on the right/ decal on the left) as standard?

Probs not, are they both big, you would have 4 pots fitted new, I hope some one hasnt fitted a 2 pot for some reason.
