New headlights for 964
After 91K miles, my two headlights are pitted and one has a penetration, so I am looking for replacements. Any thoughts on the latest available options for this?

There are a few options.
Replace H5 units and use Silverstar Ultra bulbs
Upgrade to H4 units
There has been lots of discussions on this board about using HID style bulbs and the concensus is 50/50 on their useage. Mostly due to the issue that HID style bulbs do not work effectively in the H4/H5 units since the lens is not designed for these bulbs.
The H4 conversion is the most effective at improving night driving and the H5's with Silverstars are a popular economic choice. Since you are considering replacing the H5's due pitting and penetration I would look into the H4 upgrade.
Lots of info here on that topic.

^ + 1 on the H4's.
Complete kit can be purchased from Vertex, adapter plugs from AJUSA, plug and play.
(your choice on trim rings...chrome or primer (paint to match)

I have also changed to H4 and use Silverstar bulbs. It a 100% improvement over the H5. I also put in the relay that keeps the lows on with the high beams. Every bit of light helps especially with my ageing eyes.
