For me right now its 30 mins. DEs with R6s- so I'll try the 4 plate without a cooler and see it. Er, how will I know if I need the cooler- or will it be too late at that point?

Even the stock gearboxes in the 964 Cups get too hot in a 1.5 hour enduro. It is just that the additional friction from the LSD accelerates and elevates the trans temps. Although not accurate, you can check yours with an IR temp gun on the case to give you an idea of how hot it is inside.
