Help find RUF eks
hello,
I know this is a tough request but can anyone help me source complete Ruf eks system.
I broke my neck in a motor accident 4 years ago and have never driven my 911 RSR replica that we began building just before the accident. As motivation to walk again we continued to build the car but after reading about Ruf eks system it will give me the chance to drive it now. It currently has a 1994 3.6l 964 motor and 915 gearbox, but would really like to change to Ruf system as it would honestly change my life without sounding to dramatic.
Any leads greatly appreciated.

I seem to remember a unit showing up on e-bay about a year ago, so there are still some out there. Agree about contacting RUF. I think they would help if they can. Explain your situation to them. Marc Bongers would be a good person to start with - marc.bongers@ruf-automobile.de

I considered that one on ebay but after talking to ruf specialist decided it was a waste of time.
My car already had the system installed but needed a new actuator.( $8000 if available). So you see new
parts are very dear, but the killer was the sophisticated software to set it up and maintain it - its
unreliable system. Sorry to put a downer on your plans but unless you live near a Ruf centre i would forget it. Is there nothing else out there ? I know Sachs was behind the EKS system.

Turbo Jonny, suprised to here it is unreliable, and it concerns me as there are no RUF agents here in SA so if we got stuck we would have a problem. What happend to the one in your car is it now non functional if so do you still have it?

Hi Jonny B , most of these cars ( incl mine) were converted to manual long ago..
no Ruf agents in SA = no go ! ( unless you have money to burn )

heh Turbo Johnny appreciate the advice. What problems did you have will yours and when it worked what was it like to drive?
With my situation a bad option may be worth trying if it means I get to drive, I am sure you understand.

It wasnt working when i got my car but i have read reports that its good to drive.Have you talked to Ruf?
I only needed a service and new actuator and it would have cost me $15-20k and always with the thought i would have to ship it to Germany whenever there was a fault or they would fly a technician
out at great expense !

Marc Bongers is no longer at Ruf De. Also, Johnny B, you should look to see if an EKS would even be able to work w/your car. I think you said you had carbs, etc. and the EKS ties into a bunch of differnt sensors + piggy backs onto the ECU. At the prices you see, it might be better for you to check w/Mindiola in San Diego and buy one of their sequential boxes...no clutch. If your left leg is useless, then use a hand clutch on the steering wheel for starts...as you'd be using hydraulic actuator anyway, it'd be easy. You may need to modify the tunnel for the gearbox (would have to w/EKS as well), but if you really want to drive your car then you gotta do what you gotta do....

thanks for info guys. I use my left leg to accelerate and brake, right leg works but tends to spasm so not worth running the risk.
Have spoken to RUF but by the sounds of things old eks has a lot of problems.

heh guys,
thanks for comments. Tiptronic is an option and someone from Pelican kindly offered me a free one, however I just feel it will take away so much of the cars race type feel. Looks like the RUF eks even if available would be way to expensive and just not viable.
Sounds like learning to walk again is the easiest solution, wow never thought I would say that

I am running a 1994 964 motor with 915 gearbox, PMO 50mm carbs and a go tech engine management system.
few other details:
1965 RHD 912 chassis
1994 3.6 l 964 motor with 50mm PMO carbs
Continental Orange with Jagermeifller race graphics
RSR pulley hub, solid engine and gearbox mounts, full race exhaust system
Go tech engine management
RSR body with fibreglass fenders, bumpers, boot lid, bonnet and whale tail
RUF 17” rims front 10” with 275 Michelin tyres, rears widened to 12” with 335 Michelin tyres
915 gearbox with factory short shift kit and Weltmiester linkages
993 twin turbo brake callipers and discs
Racers group 935 front A arms and cross member and 935 rear spring plates
Racers group adjustable sway bars
Bilstein custom coil over shocks with club sport settings
Rennline adjustable pedals and battery cut of kit
