Paul W -
I can't answer the question of how the tint affects the color of the reverse light - Sorry - but I have never checked -
I will have to get a friend to take a look for me

Looks like a great kit... a lot of 964 tail lights really need something like this.

Gus' kit gave me the idea to blackout my lights. It's amazing what you can do with vinyl... carbon look, wood look, metal look, all kinds of colors and many different patterns.

I was going for a blacked-out, R Gruppe look and wanted to tie together the look of the front and rear lights. I ordered black "headlight" vinyl with a 93% Light Transmission (available in many different levels). You can still see the "real" color of the lights underneath in direct sunlight. The vinyl cover affords a little extra (front) rock protection, UV protection, and peels off in one minute.

To add more to the vinyl theme (whatever color you choose), all the lights on a 964 pop out relatively easily and vinyl is pretty easy to work with. Have fun, you'll be impressed with the upgraded appearance!

PaulW_964, I don't think Reversing Lights are tested as part of the MOT, so we should be okay.
- might get an "advisory" at worst. :-)

Thanks for that Vic_S, useful info, I did wonder if we'd get away with it.

Years ago I had a Mk2 Golf GTi and fitted black reflectors and didn't have any issues. I think I'll make some enquiries before I start cutting up the vinyl.

Just had it confirmed by an MOT tester, Vic_S is indeed correct in saying Reversing lights aren't part of the MOT, so Gus' vinyl kits are fine for UK use - happy days!!

Just about to make a set of clear stone guards for my rear clusters; did the fronts 18 months ago. The rear lights are new, so just wanted the UV protection from the stoneguard material. Hopefully will make them look better for longer.

Hey guys, another alternative is to paint out the reflector and blackout the taillights.

I'm sure any tint shop can cut you the required pieces of vinyl or contact Gus to see what it would take to ship it to you.

It cost about $15.00 to send to Spain by US POST. So kit cost would be $60 - to ship to Time enroute is about 10 days by POST.
