Geoffrey and a few others have great experience with the evo uprights. I remember someone said that you could fit the 964 strut by grinding (but not the best solution) a little but you definitely have to change the tie rod.

I remember reading a bunch of threads on them.

The 993 GT2 Evo upright requires a 993 inner tie rod, RS outer tie rod (or ERP aftermarket kit), Big red or Big Black front brake caliper, and a 993 front strut.

I am still running 964 struts with my Evo uprights. We did enlarge the lower bolt hole on the strut, but no grinding of the upright was required.

..and if I understand correctly, the benefit is
1) lighter weight, and
2) ability to run correct steering geometry at lower ride heights w/o bump steer effects..?
3) if you want Big Reds - no adapter required..

Are there other reasons? They aren't cheap...

Geometry is better, but still not ideal.

I also have the 964 struts still in place....Geoffrey, what's advantage of running a 993 strut vs. a 964 strut?

The 964 upright is 1mm smaller than the Aluminum upright from the 993 at the attachment point as well as using larger bolts. I've always used the 993 front struts.

How much lighter are the evo uprights. I'm considering them for my RUF RSA.

Sure, this is possible - the 90 C2 seems to be closer to an 89 C4 than a 92 C2 in a lot of areas. A 91 C2 can be somewhere in between, depending on the build date.

I measured the four strut bolt locations on the steel uprights that came off my car. They were all different, varying from 17.95 to 18.15mm. Reliable sources report the Evo upright at 18.3mm. So while mine were a little narrower, it is by a lot less than 1mm.

But why make such extensive functional changes for aesthetic purposes? IMO, you don't need these expensive changes solely for the street.

I would be much more concerned about backspacing and rubber. Have you verified that the offsets will work? What tires are you planning to put on those wheels?

I bought a complete set brembo big reds kit for the front and rear and a new set of 964 kw double spring inox struts for the front and rear before I deceided to go with evo spindle.I am going to use 19'' wheels because of my car body converted to a ruf 993 body already. it will be a completely weekend car for the street my wheels are a little bit heavy 28ibs front and 30 ibs rear thats why I want to use evo spindle to handle the stress.may be stock spindles are enough strong for the street with 19'' but I dont know.if I'll go with the evo's I dont want to buy a new set of 993 sturts.?by the way front tire will be 235/35-19 rear will be 275/30-19 front wheel will be used with the 28mm spacer et is 52 and the rear with the 32mm spacer et: 52mm
