Hi guys ,
just getting the car remaped ect... apparently my throttle body is different ( fit by previous owner) I ask the shop to take it out and am trying to understant if it is the right one to achive good performance ,the one in there is approx 72mm diameter with a number 964 110 128 OR is that an RS ? or a modifie one ;is 72 mm ok or should it be 74 mm does it make any diff ? also some say the 993 is best witch part no is it if this is the case ?

The 1992 plastic intake manifold has a 70mm hole which is the maximum throttle body diameter you can use. The standard throttle is 68mm which is the same as the 993 non-Varioram. The 993 throttle body has a potentiometer, the 964 (manual) has idle and full throttle switches, therefore you cannot use the 993 on the 964 without modification to the management system. A 70mm throttle body will make very little difference in power on a 964 with a Motronic ECU and standard injectors.
Ironically on the 9m Motec conversions we fit a potentiometer to the 964 throttle body, but the easiest solution for us would be to fit a 993 unit instead. The downside is that they are £300 each, new.

hi Collin ,
thanks for your reply , the ECU is not a motronic , so it looks like it is a modifie one , I also realise that the part No is a casting , I think they could fit a potentiometer should I stick with this one then , I will have to ask them , so what is the size of the one you are using , 300 it is going to rip my pocket , do you think I could buy it second hand from a breaker , but there is so many different 993 throttle bodys ??
thanks
