Default Bumper above Pipe Melted - Can I find Protector?

Does anyone know where I can find one of those aluminum protectors that go above the tailpipe to protect the bumper section above it from melting?
I've seen them here and there -

THanks in advance

Mike F (K964 on RL) had one custom made by a shop for his former 964 cup. PM him to get the info.

Agreed...BUT it's an original RUF tip ($495 new) - I guess I'm just attached to the fact that I have a genuine RUF product on my car - sounds pretty lame don't it?

Well I'm not qualified to answer that but... Is it melting the bumper on top or on the sides? Because the picture you have shows a piece of your bumper missing on the right.

Maybe you can tweak the position of the tip so it can point lower. Or call Ruf and ask them what they suggest. I'm sure they wouldn't make that piece if it would melt bumpers left and right.

I have had the same Ruf tip fitted on my car for over 5 years and it has never melted the bumper! I think it is all down to placement.

+1, RUF is pretty good a testing. I would think it is installed incorrectly.

Any after market tip if installed too close to the bumper will melt it...I did it w/a BB exhaust. Factory ones don't get very hot given the design...but I can tell you from experience, its a PITA to make a piece for that area. Plus as an FYI given you cooked it, it is now very brittle....so at some point it may split especially if it gets taped.

Try the exhaust tip shield used on the bumper of the C2S and C4/Turbo bumpers for the 993. It is brushed aluminum and should fit the 964 contours fine with some adjustment.

Check with your local Porsche dealer or Gert has them available at Carnewal.com: http://www.carnewal-europe.com/main.htm

I have the same Ruf tip and it is 1/8 - 1/4" from the bumper with the bumper still just fine. I think a closer look is neccessary to see if the bumper is getting brittle. Also have the Ruff bypass. Sounds Fantastic. Best heard yet.

I couldn' fine the exhaust tip shield @ http://www.carnewal-europe.com/main.htm

FlatSix911: If you have the direct link to the sheild I would greatly appriciated it?

I see I can't spell this time of night. I would power coat a shield black. Okay the search is on.
Chodaboy: Please let me know what your considering. Black would match our lower back bumper & rockers.
