Default Steering wheel mod...

This, I must say, is a really significant change for the better over the stock wheel. Driving position is significantly improved. Install was pretty easy (except tonight I have to figure out why the horn does not work)

Same company makes them for Raid, FVD, etc. I think it's Atiwe...same wheel as yours sans silver horn buttons.

Can you share a little more info on the wheel? Airbag? Does all the stock equipement work; Horn, Turn Signal Cancel? Cost? Where did you buy it?

Thanks,

JF

smaller diameter wheel, too.
Ilko was just commenting on that the other day. Saying how he prefers a smaller wheel. Gotta say I like it.

Any (gauge) sight-lines obstruction?

I originally posted this in the "Airbag Deployed Without Accident" thread, but it was a little OT. I also installed an aftermarket wheel from Raid on my car. Mine is the 340mm Freeway. Purchased from TMTuning.com. You need to buy a 964-specific adapter, which costs about $130.

If you order the wheel from TMTuning, specify the make and model of the car in the notes section when you place the order and request the appropriate adapter. They are great to deal with, but it can take awhile for shipping. Yes, the horns still work. You will need to remove the lead wires for the horn from the stock wheel and use them with the new wheel. It is a terrific mod and feels much better than stock. And it does not impede sightlines to the gauges. Here are some pics of the wheel in my car.

The wheel is 340mm, I believe the stock one was 365. Installation was very simple, just mount the hub adaptor with the large nut and the wheel bolts to that with 4 hex head bolts. You have to re-use the piece that contacts the copper ring for the horn, otherwise all was included (I got mine from FVD). It has a new airbag.... all that you have to do is cut the original male end and replace with the one supplied. The wheel and hub with shipping was like ~$800.

I have these two. I like 'em obviously and find them nice and meaty. 340mm is slightly small but gives better leg clearance if you're on the taller side. But I did have to take out the horn relay on the track car. Kept honking at corner workers- not kewl:

All black or a black/suede would be nice...as would be the carbon fibre inserts.

I'm toying with the idea of a interior re-do.
I'm really liking my 964 after 9 months of ownership, so looking at "modernizing" the interior. Kind of my "thing", I guess. I re-did both my 930 and 951, and I see the potential to do something with the 964.
Not radical, but the opposite direction from RS. Mine's my daily driver. Modern stereo, with Ipod and GPS integration, updated steering wheel, console, and shifter/handbrake, etc.. Thinking of the stock gray leather mixed with darker Alcantra headliner and trim...

The stock wheel is gray, so that was the reason for the original question - in case I just do the wheel.

Here's the 930, Post Op - Was originally all dark Blue and pretty shoddy...
