Default Any Leads on A Targa (92-94)?

List:

Targa only. May consider coupe or cab IF it's an exceptional value
>100k miles
C2 preferred but will consider C4
Black or blue. Other colors considered if an exceptional value. NO red (not a fan of brightness).
Tip or manual
West Coast or dry states only, no snow areas cars
No track stars/racers

And the usual everybody wants, service records, few owners, non-smoker owned.

I want a very reliable, ready to drive weekend/daily driver car. Don't need a racer or concours winner. Just something to cruise along...

Thanks for any leads. I've been perusing Craigslist, AutoTrader, Pelican and here daily.

Here's a couple in the NW. I think the black one is a Rennlister.

Sorry about the red one. Didn't catch that in your post.

Thanks for those leads. I saw both of those. I actually hesitate on the black one since it's a 90. I'm just really afraid of the head gasket potential problem. I'd rather stay with 92-94s. Less potential issues.

$45K? Yikes. Too rich for me. I'm sure it's nice though. BOL on your sale and thanks for the offer.

get over the '90 cars with the "head gasket problem"

mine has 98K miles on it now, and it is still humming right along with no problems.

my cam chain boxes leak more in a week than the heads have in 18 years, and the cam chain boxes were resealed 2 years ago.

Ha! Not really interested in selling, just horsin' around.

I hope you find a good one. I'm sure you will.

Mine is a '91 (pre-"head fix" serial number), and mine has never had the problem. There is no evidence in the records that it's ever been done. As has been explained to you in some of your other threads, by now these cars have either had the problem addressed already, or they are simply not going to have it. I just wouldn't let the specter of some potential problem ward you away from an otherwise good car. The overall condition and maintenance history are a lot more important things to focus on.

I know what you mean about the 'red car' thing. it wasn't on my list of color choices either. i love colors like Amazon Green and Tahoe Blue. But Porsche made a buttload of Guards Red 911's over the years, and when I found my car, it was too good an example to pass up. And the color really does grow on you.

I applaud the search for a targa. It's been my favorite type ever since I was a kid.

Yeah, many folks here have been telling me not to worry about the early 90s cars. I'm just a very conservative person with $$ and cars. Any bad rap and it's scares me off. I'll consider the earlier 964s then...maybe. Funny thing, in my search it seems most of the 964s on the market are MY90-91. Very few 92-94s out there. My P mechanic also said those years are harder to find because those that have them are keeping them. And of those that are on the market are pretty well used. That tells me the 92-94 are even more desireable as well.

I like that "buttloads" of guard's red. That's what I'm seeing out there also. Unless its just a killer deal, I will not be buying a red car. They're a just a turn off to me for a personal car. I don't own anything red colored either, except for a Santa hat.

Speaking of Santa, this is not a good time to buy either. Bad timing...

Not many 964 Targas were sold in the US vs the earlier SC's and Carreras.

1990 158 Units
1991 746 Units
1992 211 Units
1993 137 Units

Wow, targas are a rare breed! Where'd you get that info? How about for the 94s?

Man, like how many 1991 units...like 6:1 more!
