Default Finally figured how to shrink photos and load up avatar!

now all i need to figure out is why my clutch is slipping (or rather how much it's going to cost?), whether or not to go with RS light weight fly wheel? LSD? Which clutch to buy - sachs, centerforce, quaife ?

and

where the heck is all that oil leaking out from? (or rather how much it's going to cost to rebuild motor)

Alex, fortunately oil leaks don't necessarily mean an engine rebuild. They are two totally different issues. Clutch slipping could be related to a rear main seal leak though. Still requires clutch replacement. Do a search on leaks to find lots of info. There are several key areas that tend to leak. Take off the engine tray and clean the engine to try to find where the oil leaks originate.

RS lightweight- yes, no brand preference
LSD- definitely if you are going to the track
Rebuild- total 18-20 or buy Larry Herman's engine. I think he has it for sale for $8500

Now tell me how to shrink photos, please. Right now I have to email them to myself.

Tucker-
A great little piece of freeware to photo manipulate is Irfanview.

Once installed, it's a simple series of menu drops:
  1. Image > Resize/Resample > (select size desired) > OK
  2. File > Save As > (select file type & quality; eg jpeg & 75) > OK

And as the good elves controlling Rennieland say: "The maximum size of your custom image is 300 by 300 pixels or 48.8 KB (whichever is smaller)"

(Hope to see a cool pic of yours, here, soon, Tuck.)

Looking good, Tuck.
between it and Gimp (an open source alternative to Photoshop), they're all I ever use for graphics.

Fred,
Thanks for the tip.

I've taken my 964 to 3 different Porsche specialists. They are saying definitely a new clutch needed. It won't totally disengage, is a little stiff getting out of first gear and i need to run the motor to about 1800 rpms or i'll stall. (that's a bit strange. I have read a ton of info on Rennlist and other sites and it all points to a new clutch. I'll start the car and a smelly metal on metal odor comes in through the vents (?) yuck!

As far as engine goes, my mechanic has looked a couple of times and suggests replacing seals and gaskets. I don't mind spending the money to freshen up the motor and fix the leaks as they leak onto my exhaust and therefore i can't get tech'd for DEs. The motor has 292,000 kms (180,000 mi) as far as i know. Uses about 1 litre of oil every 1000kms (600 mi) and i've had the leakdown test also suggesting rebuild.

Tucker, that's an awesome looking black RS! Well set up for street and track? Please PM about the motor. I'd like to know more about it and would be open to having my current motor rebuilt and stuffed into my 1970 (930 replica). It now has the 2.2 MFI with 6 throttle bodies. Trade??

By the way, i did not mean to shrink my avatar so small. I like the larger sizes but any larger and i am over the `19.5kb and Rennlist won't allow me to submit. I'll check out the irfanview or picasso and figure out from there. I used the program that Marc / Wachuko suggests in the 'support' section.

Well done DJS and nice looking rims. It only took you and i two years to figure out how to shrink the avatar!!

Thanks. 3,6 stock engine, drilled airbox, cat bypass, B&B primary, secondary bypass with titanium valve springs and retainers courtesy of a money shift at Road Atlanta.

Trade? Let me think about that a second, mmmmm, no thanks. I love my RSA.
