My car stereo doesn't turn off
This is really interesting, I have the original stereo. I noticed that it stays lighted when I remove the key from the ignition. Even after I turned it off.First time I notice this. I'm a 6 week old owner
Any ideas?

I had the same problem - the backlight would stay on and drain the battery. Took the radio to an electronics repair shop, but they could not repair it. Resolved the problem by replacing it with a CDR-220.

Hey, have kind of the same problem after I installed a new Alpine Stereo with an Ipod hook-up. When I take the key out of the ignition and the stereo is off, the Ipod continues.

I think it depends on how the stereo is wired in - if it's powered from the switched or the permanent live. It looks like yours is wired into the permanent live feed.
Mine is the same if I turn it on before I start the car, but if I turn it on when the car is already running, it'll then turn itself off when I stop the engine! Wierd!

Something easy to install that will help you until the problem is sorted out. It is also a great anti-theft device:

So basically your iPod won't turn off until it shuts itself down an hour later from non-use.

Problem found
The culprit is the original radio. Somehow it never shut down and drained the battery
The mecanic disconnected it.
I'll be looking for a new radio next spring, with a CD
