Yes you can. But you will need a dual filament bulb for the black socket and make sure you wire it so that the brighter filament lights up.

Bringing up an old thread.

Do I want 1156 or 1157 sockets for this? Was thinking 1156 so it's only used for brakes and not running lights / brakes like the tail lights.

1156, you want single filament bulbs. If you wore them for tail and brake it will be confusing for other drivers.

Cool, was kinda thinking that, but needed someone to confirm. I'll get 1156.

Was looking at these sockets:

Bulbs will be JDMAstar 1156 red high power leds.

Let me know what you end up with, I did this years ago and will probably be doing the same on the current car.

I should have thought of this when i did mine. If I used the two black double filament connectors and the LED bulbs I could have wired it so both lights come on with the brakes. That would make for a very bright added light and the LED would not draw the current and blow the fuse especially if I used LED's for the regular brake lights as well.

I also ran wires out both sides so that each circuit has two brake lights instead of three on one and one on the other fuse.

BTW if you use the correct sized forstner bit you can easily use a file to open up the slots for the tabs so the connectors rotate and lock in place.

What wires do I tap to do this? Whats the positive I need basically?

Got my holes drilled. Like an *** I used the wrong bit on one, but was easily fixed with some silicone around the edge to make it snug.

Geee... Why did I have to read this page.

Now I 'm wondering if i wired both fog lights to left or right... And this stuff gets stuck in my mind.

Maybe i should just go straight to LED and not worry about the cable carrying the current.
