Default Bonnet/trunk seal

Morning,

I've just removed my front bumper cover to gain access to the oil cooler. In doing so, the bonnet/trunk seal has completely come away at the very front. There is lots of old glue residue. Was this seal glued in place in the factory or has it been bodged by a previous owner? Was this seal originally a one piece square shape and If so, I assume I would have to remove the bonnet to fit a new seal? Mine has parted company in the corners.

Cheers TD.

It does come as a single piece - but you don't have to remove the bonnet to fit it. You just place the new seal over the top of the bonnet and the rear part will pull in behind the hinges - and the rest is easy.

IIRC the factory seal IS glued in place but it holds OK without glue. With the bonnet closed it's not going any place.

Regards

Dave

Mine has no glue, and it makes it a damn site easier to fit.

Thanks for the info guys - really great help. I'll order a new one from Forest Fine ASAP, seems like a good price. Not sure what OEM means, I see it everywhere and hence it's probably a really stupid question.

Not a stupid question; we all started somewhere.

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer
