Pretty interesting story. I sold my 964 today to a couple who was on vacation from Germany. I live in the San Francisco area and this guy came and inspected the car and bought the car for cash and is going to ship it back to Germany for his use there. He did not do a full ppi inspection just put it on a rack and pulled the pan and looked for oil leaks. There was some seepage on the right side of the motor and the left side was dry. Oil line looked a bit old with a little seepage. All and all looked pretty good I did have good service records but did not have a leak down or compression check done. I Sold her for 20K wanted a little more but the market is soft right now and 112k miles scared a lot of buys off. Buyer was happy and I am o.k. with the deal but a little sad to see her go. I bought a new Shelby gt 500 so that is my new toy for now.

Glad it worked out. Sometimes it's worth $$ just to deal with a buyer who doesn't try to make you jump through hoops with a ball on your nose.
Foreign buyers snapping up our companies and real estate, why shouldn't they take our Porsches too?
Have fun with the Shelby, that's a cool car.

I'm in the UK, but have heard lately that prices in Europe for a good 964 is upward of $38k.
Depending on condition – of course RS or unique 964 are higher - But given the conversion rate $ to Euro / UK £– that would make the car very attractive - USD $25,000.00 = Euro 15.9k and UK £ 12.6k
Sounds like a good deal to me

The Shelby gt 500 is a 360 from a Porsche. All Muscle and no brains. The power and torque are awsome. The handling for a car of this size is really not bad. (3900 lbs). I have been playing with muscle cars all my live and am tired of breaking them and then fixing them. This is the best 60s style muscle car I have found that has modern amenities. Air cooled Porsches sound great, but a 5.4 liter supercharged (GT 40) motor with an exhaust upgrade sound incredible. I had great fun driving my 964 for the past 2 years but to be truthful I am scared of the potential repairs on a car with 112,000 miles that I just cannot fix myself. When I found the Shelby for mid 40s with 500 horsepower and 6 speed Tremec and a potential for plenty more , easy suspension upgrades and a 7 year warranty I decided that was the right car for me. I could have bought a Corvette been there done that. There will be another Porsche in my live someday but for now I will be leaving to big black patches of rubber in the streets of San Francisco when ever i can.
