Default '92 Value ?

Had a 928 and would like to get another one but my other favorite is the 964.

I found one of interest but not really sure about the price point and read the link on this site regarding the prices paid.
Some of the cars were purchased a few years ago and I'm not sure how the 964 is holding its value in todays crappy economy ---- so I figured I would ask you guys before I speak to a salesman ---

What is a realistic value / price for this '92 ?

http://www.holtmotorsports.com/inventory.php?vin=420355

I would like to use it as a summer daily driver --- a short distance to work on some decent country roads in the Poconos.

Thank you in advance,
Tom

High 20's if it passes PPI with flying colors. 92+, great (rare) color, LSD, M030, low miles, etc. all add to the price. Keep in mind though, that if you drive it daily it may depreciate somewhat based on the miles you put on it. Just a thought, if you decide to flip the car in a couple of years.

"Call for price" sounds ominous. How much are they asking?

I have a 92, and that car looks to be a well-maintained unmolested example. The paint looks almost too good. If that is a re-spray, that could indicate collision history which would lower the value. If that is factory paint, mileage is for real and documented, and everything mechanical checks out, that car is a steal at anything below $25,000. Be sure to get a 4-wheel alignment check as part of the pre-purchase inspection.

You are probably looking at $27K - $29K at retail, which will be cheaper than getting a run-down car and attempting to bring it up to the standard of this one. Factor in later resale value versus a higher-mileage car, and something like this is cheaper as long as you have the up-front cash. Who knows what $5 gas and weak economy will do to prices?

Thumbs up

two weird, little pluses (to me, at least):
  • previous pca owner (sticker)
  • engine & interior only lightly detailed, if at all. (I like looking over an 'honest' car...)
All but the linen are hitting my right buttons. (Linen's just a personal pique, is all.)

Personally, I would be hesitant to get the linen interior. Whereas a black or blue interior can look "young for its age", a linen interior will likely show wear much faster.

But that is a cool exterior color...

Agree with the above. What I'm impressed with is the apparent increase in market value of the 964 over the last year or two. I've watched as a typical 92 with 60k miles and "pristine" condition went from $25k to $27k to $29k now. Probably in part due to ROW buying up our 964s for return to Europe and / or RS cloning. Dollar / Euro and supply / demand will do that

woops! -- one other thing...
(and this is coming from the Deepest part of Retentiveland...)

The parking brake handle shows a bit too much up.
One to two clicks is as far as it should pull up before setting.

(Air probably needs changing in the tires, as well.)

What a sweet rig !!! M030, supple leather, LSD... aaagggghhh... <drool>

I dig seeing an interior that ain't black or cashmere.

Probably command $28K and probably worth every bit of it.
Would fetch at least $30K out here in my neck of the woods.

I bet their asking price is a jaw-dropper. He is know for having nice cars, but there is a lot of prattle on their 'Pricing' page about "condition", "condition", and "condition". Betting they're pretty proud of their inventory.

Other factors being equal, coupes are typically worth more than cabs in the 964/993 range based on my admittedly unscientific observation of resale prices. At best, they may be even. Seems that as 911's reach a certain age, the cabs that used to fetch more than their coupe counterparts previously, will later fall below an equivalent coupe. Eg. in the newer 996 range, I think cabs still fetch a little more than coupes (again, based on very unscientific observation of asking prices).

He was joking

Back on topic, 32K asking is not so bad for that particular dealership. If you can take 10% off that price and the PPI is great, you'll be in good shape.

This all actually gives me a smiley face maybe two
But I'm not in the market to buy. It's just a warm feeling.
