Beautiful car. Just spent the whole weekend driving my 964 and you're absolutely correct in your assessment that there is something special in the way these 15 year old cars handle and drive.
There is a visceral feeling when driving these cars that cannot be matched by any of the current cars.

A few years ago I had the choice between a c4 cab and c4 coupe. I chose the cab because it had 45k miles vs 75k on the coupe. In hindsight, I should have purchased the coupe. My car was not driven enough, and as such, there were a lot areas that were in need of preventative maintainence. Secondly, the Chicago region PCA requires a full roll cage for any driving events in a Cab, so I can't participate! I will say that the only thing it doesn't like is black ice - I hit some on a warm winter day on a country road and put mine in the ditch. No damage until they pulled me out - the tweaked the front end pretty bad, requiring the whole thing to be rebuilt! And yes, they are a joy to drive in the snow (sans the black ice).
From a comoft standpoint, the heat and air work just fine in the cab yearround, so no concerns there. Winter tires are a must - I had p-zero neros M+S on the car when I put it in the ditch. I learned my lesson....
