Default Anyone replaced their flywheel speed sensor????

I cannot get the sensor out of this bracket that hooks it to the bellhousing. I have beat it, pried it with a screwdriver and soaked it in PB blaster for a night but it will not come out. Is it even supposed to???? Will the new one come with a bracket or what???

Thanks
JERRY

The sensor and support show two different part numbers, but the sensor part # 911.606.217.03 looks like it includes the support #964.101.187.01. I don't know how or if they come apart. Did you get a new sensor yet? It may come complete with mounting support.

I needed to replace my speed sensor last summer. I had trouble separating the sensor from the bracket too. I soaked it for a week with WD-40 & Liquid Wrench. It was still stuck. I then got impatient and broke the bracket. I then lost 10 days while a new bracket was on order.

My advice is to soak it well with light oil and be patient. One after thought, you may want to try heat. I didn't and that may have helped.

Edit: In my case, the sensor body had some corrosion on it which made it hard to separate from the bracket. When I assembled my new one, I smeared it with copper anti-sieve compound, hoping that it will help the next time someone needs to disassemble it.

I can't remember a time when one was stuck for me. They are 2 different pieces and they should come apart easily.

Jerry,

I ordered my bracket through EBS Racing (no affiliation). I can't remember the price but it was less than I expected. I want to guess that it was $20 plus shipping.

I had the same experience as Rob. Aluminum corrosion welded the sender and housing together solidly. The housing cracked when I tried to get the sender out too. The housing is pretty cheap through Porsche, it just takes time to arrive. I also put some paste on mine when I reassembled.

There is an adapter you also need to order. The new sensor I installed had a different plug configuration.

If you order the sensor I posted, it's plug and play, no adapter needed. It's identical to the original one.

I installed a new reference sensor on my car MY 91. I then installed the plug that matches the new sensor in the cars wiring harness which involved cutting the old plug off. The sensor plug and wire connectors were purchased from Pelican (no affiliation) In reading another thread referring to knock sensor CHT temp sensors it shows a better solution using the old connector and the new style plug to make an adaptor sorry I don't remember who's thread it was to give
them proper credit. My old plug was destroyed so I couldn't use this solution. -nick is the starter if the thread I mentioned

OPC sells the later 993 version that inludes cutting the wires for the plug. Don´t feel like mixing with the wiring on sensors, doesn´t feel right.
Anyone have pics on this?

OT: And B2C Auto Parts. don´t ship to Sweden...
