I am about to put it in both of my 911's.

Is it better than Mobil 1?

What are the negatives?

Without starting an entire debate again, I'll tell you I switched to 20-50 BP from Mobil 1 in the 964. I still run it in the bimmer but it has different requirements and is not a flat tappet engine where the zinc -potassium can be beneficial.

Like Lou Z said, do a search on it or ZDDP in particular, you will find more than enough. Attached is the link that sold me. Others say that L&N are just trying to sell BP. I say hooey, they could offer any oil they want and its not the only oil they offer. Either way its GREAT READ and thats my story and I'm stickin' to it!

The Brad Penn is the old Kendall Green .
The company that made Kendall in the past sold the name to a big time oil company , conocophillips , that company is putting out "normal" oil under the Kendall name .

Oh!... now I get it. "Brad Penn": Bradford Refinery, Pennsylvania.
(Thanks for the link, Indy.)

And, yeah, I made the switch to Brad last month. 20-50 racing. Saw enough of the smoke (warnings), and figured I didn't want any part of a pyre.

(Still... that goopy green stuff BP passes off as 'oil' -- well -- it's gonna take some getting used to. I never had experience as a Kendall kid.)

I dig the areal shot of the refinery on their web home page .
They don't hype it up with a hot car / chick .
Only a oil freak would use a shot of a refinery .

For them who want to go fast ...

I know the search button does work well but a recent thread on these subjects will enlighten me and maybe another enthusiast who has never heard of Brad Penn.

I run Brad Penn. I blend the 10w 30 and 20 w 50 half and half to get a 15 w 40 for winter use. In summer I use the 20w 50.

I switched (and viscosities 20-50w now vs 15-50w M1).
My leaks have ceased. YLMV.

I was adding a qrt every 800 miles. With Brad Penn I am losing a qrt every 1500 miles. I would hate to say Brad Penn will solve all your worries but I had good luck.

I switched to Swepco 306 at the advice of the guy that built my engine recently. I suspect Swepco is similar to Brad Penn. The issue is how much zinc/ZDDP/anti-wear goodies the oil contains. Our engines are too expensive to take any unnecessary chances with, especially if they see track duty.

I had a guy that races an RS America and built his own engine tell me recently that he uses Mobil 1 V-twin aircooled (?) motorcycle oil. He said it is a synthetic oil formulated for Harleys so it has lots of anti-wear zinc goodness in it for air cooled engines. Has anyone else heard about using this oil?

Out here in Oregon they can't keep the Brad Penn on the shelves. Its more popular than Pinot Noir in the Wilammette Valley. I am using it on the advice of my guru; Steve Weiner of Rennsport Systems.
