How do you guy's clean the unit?

Pour a little denatured alcohol down the tube into the tank. Swirl it around. Wipe it out with paper shop towels using a long screwdriver or something similar.

This is why I prefer the "dry" method...have yet to clean it out!

Yeah, I hate cleaning too, so I really had to think about it the first time. With the denatured alcohol, it takes maybe 2 minutes and it's clean as a whistle. I really didn't think it would be that easy. IMHO, you spend much more time than that refilling the reservior and re-pumping. Not to mention the air in the clutch circuit issue that occasionally happens. But, to each his own, either method is perectly acceptable. One thing for sure, it's always good to have multiple options!

+1 for dry. I cleaned mine out last time by just wiping it down.

when doing a full system flush I agree fully with deep_uv that it is worthwhile to go ahead and do it wet. If I do something small and just have to bleed the air from the front calipers I do it dry. When I do it wet I also use alcohol for the clean up.

With the mods for quick connects, even the full system bleeds are easy.

Water cuts brake fluid -- just hose it out - in a safe place of course.

I, too, prefer the dry method.

I got the universal cap also, it comes with U-bolts and chains for adapting to a wide variety of resevoirs.

The quick connects are "air hose"connectors. I like their function that I screw the cap on, then attach the bottle (as is now available from Motiv on their new style).

The good aspect is after the botttle is pressurized, I can disconnect the hose to top off the resevoir without loosing bottle pressure.

Mine is homemade from a VW Jetta radiator overflow container with the quick disconnects. I usually let gravity do the work for me over a few days by hanging the device (i.e brake bleeder, oil funnel etc.) high up on a garage wall and direct the drain through the hose to the supply container of fluid used.
