Default One thing at a time .

Don't do the distributor until the car is all back together and running ?
Once the car is all back together and running fine , then pull out the distributor and replace the belt and pin .

Why is that indycam? The valves need to be adjusted anyhow since the mecanic is taking them apart completely... it was my suggestion as well since I cant wait to have my ride again. But i thought it might be good to fix everything , reinstall and then adjust and then reinstall everything?
Correct me if Im wrong, Im just a newbie...

Default porsche part number

yes this is porsche format for part numbers. be care full when you rebelt that thing. indycam might hace a point, get the car running and then do it, at least you know that you did not mess the distributor up and you will not have a reference point. get the car running real good and then change, if the car will not run or runs poorly you messed something up, if it were to happen. i think i would do it that way too seeing you never done this and you said the belt was intact when you looked at it. its up to you. i have changed the belt and its was not hard but it is not a walk int the park either. not trying to scare you but you can Fu3& it up, example, drill the rivet out wrong, break the small wires that you must remove, dont clock the two in the same orientation.. get it running and take that out after you verify everthing is good, your mechanic will say it must be something you done, you will say its something he did, see what indycam is saying, in a nut shell

Default One thing at a time

If you fix 2 things on a car and then the car does not run or runs bad ,
was it this thing or that thing that needs to be redone ?
If you fix 10 things on a car and then it does not run or runs bad , was it this that or the other thing ?

So , your distributor is working now , it does not need repair to get the car to run .
Leave it alone for the time being .
The distributor can be pulled out of the car once the car is up and running for the preventative belt replacement .

If the car is up and running and then the distributors is pulled / redone ,
if at that point the car does not run well , you know to look at the distributor for the problem .

Default dutch

my last name is hutch, my friend calls me dutch, i put crunch on the end just because. i am not dutch though. i bet you will be glad to get you car back on the road. you should join, a fair contribution to vast information and great people. a mechanic book cost more than 1 year of membership, and i fell that there is more info here than any book ever written on Porsches.

Hi guys, can't find anywhere in the DIY section how to install the vent kit. Bought it from pelican but don't know exactely where it belongs. Sorry for my lack of mechanical taste, but what is the proper name for this "kit"?

Tommie:
One thing I learned on these cars is do not fix what is not broken. Take your time , be patient and careful and run the car. Wait for the car to tell you when it needs to be worked on.

good luck.

Bob
