Mine started to hang a little so while finishing the plug wires, I decided to rip it out. BTW was your car white or all red cars have white engine compartment???

Am I correct in observing that the new pad is held in place by a number of plastic bungs?

I replaced the pad in my old 911S about 10 years ago, and it was entirely held in place by glue ... which made for a horrible job to remove it, and even worse to re-install and make it look neat.

I replaced my pad. It was held in place with both plastic bungs (approx 10) and glue. I used both when I reinstalled.

What type of glue did you use during reinstall? Ive ordered a new mat and want to get my pad to look like Boeings!

 

The glue I used is 3M Super 77. Its a spray can of contact cement available at most hardware stores.

Thanks Rob. My wife has 2 cans of Duro Spray adhesive (loctite) that seems to be equivalent to the 77. Ill use that if 77 is the choice.

You'll have to lower it for best results. You can possibly remove it, but it will be messier and you definitely won't have enough room to put a new one on.

 

Can we all have a gentlemans agreement to not get into a bidding war on ebay for the aftermarket pad??? Im the only one bidding on this and it would be bad karma to snipe a fellow rennlister! My understanding is that this seller has stock but lists one at a time. Hes been doing this since April (if you look at the boeing thread).

Now I wish I did what KLR wants to do and just call the seller and do a buy it now. Waiting a week stinks...
