May need valve covers
I'm replacing my valve cover gaskets and am finding some corrosion on the covers near the plug wire holes. I don't think I have any by the sealing areas, but would replace them if I could find a good used set. Has anyone changed to aftermarket covers and have a good used set they are not using? I'm currently stripping mine to check the extent of the corrosion. I'd be interested in another set if you have some. I'd prefer top and bottom, but let me know what you have. Thanks in advance.

I ended up buying some from the dismantler in LA for 200.00 for a set of 4 factory aluminum ones. It wasn't a very good buying experience but it all worked out in the end. I was planning on getting a set of hargett lowers and finding some factory uppers but I ended up buying all four so I used them. So far no leaks>

Thanks to all, I had done a search already and had seen the Hargett and Rennspeed, but was looking for a stock set. I guess I'm not the only one with the 17 year old magnesium covers showing their age.... I'll check these closely and decide which way to go. I saw some aftermarket bottom ones on E-bay, but am afraid of leaks.

If they are the same ones as we bough a while ago... the actual casting edge broke and allowed the gasket to slide out, then it leaked. A lot. And so did the replacement.
Only options we now use are, Hargett, new OEM or used OEM.

i did not know that they did that, what happened to quality ??? i do know that the new porsche valve covers are the all aluminum type!!! guess you have to pay. i think its nice to have the holes so you can mount the wire holder on.

GMS, could you PM me with the vendor you used for your aftermarket ones? What caused the edge break? Did they have the threaded holes for the wire clips?
The Hargett ones are a thing of beauty. I glass beaded one of mine and it looks pretty good, I hope the other is the same. If they both look good, I think I'll powdercoat them red just to be different. I had the usual minor leaks due to old gaskets, nothing indicating failures. I'll post pix if all works out OK. Thanks for all the info.
