Default Exhaust rattle?

I would describe it as a dry rattle - sounds like it's near the rear exterior (like exhaust). Frequency/tone varies with RPMs. Loose exhaust shield common? Thoughts?

If anyone is willing to listen to the noise over the telephone, I'm willing to pay a little by the minute via www.rogomo.com (disclosure: I work for rogomo .

Thanks

Have you checked all bolts for loose connections? I would start with that first. If you don't find anything, then remove the rear bumper (very simple) and check the heat shield above the primary muffler.

Your rattle could be internal to the cat , 1st muffler , 2nd muffler , heat shields etc etc etc

My guess would be the shields (two piece) around the cat. There are a number of little bolts that come undone. Also, they can catch and retain debris, pebbles, etc.

I found one of mine loose today (just as Joey B. describes above). I had mine on a lift today, which made it relatively easy to spot. Not sure if I would have seen it using the jack stands. Good luck.

I had a rattle in the left rear too that turned out to a loose brake shield.

My Secondary developed an internal rattle- so I junked it.
No Secondary- no primary. Just HF Cat.
