Default I bought a lift yesterday!

Today I went to Lift King (www.liftking.ca), I wanted to see their lifts in person. I have a two car garage, it's a good size but I need more storage and I can't put a second garage behind my house due to water pipes running through. I liked what I saw and the guys were great. I like the fact that it comes with coasters so that I can move it if I need to. I got it in black.

Some people on other fourms I read said you shouldn't get a cheaper lift, but when I talked to guys who actually had this one and used it they said it was great. On guy bought three he liked it so much, there is one guy that is doing a complete restoration on an old Porsche on his.

The one I bought is just like this one:

My neighbor had one just like that. Makes for quick work of an oil change, and other under the car stuff. Very nice.

My garage is 10' 8" tall, the lift easily fits for height, the problem with my garage is it's fairly narrow at 19", the lift is 109" with the special motor attachment I bought so it's slightly less than half the width. I think it'll turn out okay though I just have to rearrange where I put my tool box and other things. A clean organized garage will make it better.

How do you jack the car up so you can remove the wheels and do brake/suspension work?

There is a plate that goes across that you can use to set a jack on that comes with it, but personally I think they are a little scary, you can also get a plate with hydraulic lifts on it that would be amazing, but it's another $2400.00. I guess you could also lift it up and set it down on jack stands.

I guess I'll figure out the best way once I have the lift.

so this is a roll-on lift then, not one that has independent jack points? Kinda makes wheel or suspension work difficult.

The problem with the ones that are just jack points is they let the suspension dangle, I want to store my NSX on this through winter so I needed one like this more, I also didn't want to bolt the lift down, so I need one like this for that. If I had a large shop and didn't need the storage I would have preferred a lift that is just the jacking points though, then I'd just use it for maintenance. There is also the option to get the add on for this that has the jack points coming from the center, but I can't afford that... I'm poor .

Did you raise your garage door? It looks fairly close to the car. Yours looks really amazing, but that could be because of the cars, haha.

Yes, I bought new doors and had high lift track installed. No other way to be able to open the door all the way with a car on top.

Well I was going to go pick it up tomorrow, but now it's about minus 40 degrees, too cold.

I'll be on the market for a lift in a month.. I'll be looking forward to some comments about the delivery/assembly. Please keep this thread up to date.

Thanks!
