Window Tint - To remove or to keep?
Well the local police are starting to crack down on everything again, this includes window tint. I'm thinking I should remove it, but if I remove it I'll want to remove all of it not just the front windows.
I have two questions.
1. Should I just leave it on and drive paranoid and possibly get a $150.00 ticket, or should I remove it, I like the look, but I just don't know if it's worth it.
2. How do I remove it from the rear window without damaging the rear window defroster lines? Maybe they are different on the 911 but when I took the tint off my VR-4 I ended up ruining the rear defroster lines.
I'll miss the tint but I've found lots of really amazing looking slate grey 964's with no window tint.
Edit: I guess I could have searched first https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ht=window+tint Apparently with the rear windows I just have to be carefull.

Burning Brakes
In the UK, it's become known as privacy glass and has now been adopted by middle class mothers in their SUVs and MPVs. They say they have it because they don't want their little darlings exposed to too much sun (yeah - like we get any sun over here) but really it's because so called "celebs" have it on their cars and these mothers like to think it makes them look cool...
IMHO it makes the driver look like a pretentious d*ck!
Rant over. As you can see it's one of my (ever-increasing) list of pet hates. Help - I'm turning into my father...

tint
they have the new clear tint that block 99.9% of uv rays to protect interior along with a nice pai of sunglasses and you are the man or woman the have some removal spray that you can soak it with to aid in removal, might want to not use a razor blade on back window seeing its slightly curved as you wil get scratches. i heard using a hair dryer works too. maybe going to a tint place might have the product use to aid in removal.

The easiest way to remove the tint from the rear without damaging the defroster lines that we have found is to get some 000 or 0000 grade steel wool and some glass cleaner with amonia, be sure not to use any other grade of steel wool it will damage , these will not(000)0000), lay a towel down on the package tray so the glass cleaner dosent affect it, spray glass cleaner on sparingly, it also helps if the glass is warm, either from the sun or your defrost, but make sure your defrost is off when you start to remove the glue, the steel wool combined with the glass cleaner will take the glue off, now this may take a while depending on how long the tint has been on the car,
Hope this helps

(By the way, I love the look of a non-tinted stock Iroc from the late 80's, so don't mean to knock that car)

If I did not have the Targa rear window I would tint my windows. I agree with Pat that a little tint keeps things cooler, cuts glare, and makes driving more comfortable.
With the Targa it's just too much trouble to get tint right on that big rear curving window.

You guys have never been to southern Arizona in the summertime. Window tint is required there, as are sunshades when you park the car outside. Forego these and your interior will be ruined within two summers, and you will not be albe to dive the car after it's been parked in the sun as the steering wheel will be blistering hot. Oh, lots of Aerospace 303 UV protectant is required as well.

Before I put the tint on my windows, it would be 100 degrees outside and I would be hot with cold a/c air blowing on me. Burn my a*ss in the seats and couldn't touch the steering wheel. With the tint, no more burnt a*ss, can put my hands on the wheel, and the car's actually COOL after 5 minutes w/ the a/c on.
Plus, the police can't see my face when I check on my Ho's and push my crack.
