Oh, lots of Aerospace 303 UV protectant is required as well.
OK, I'll give you that. But here in New Jersey, it's just plain tacky.

I have seen pictures of dark tinted targas- even weirder looking than tinted coupes! Again, all my humble opinion

Function before form in the South.
Downside is it doesn't mitigate against accidental drive-by shootings.

Well I've decided to just do the front windows for now since my garage isn't heated yet and it's too cold to be crawling around in the back of the Porsche.

I got the drivers side window tint off in one piece, but there was a fair bit of glue residue, I got it off with less residue on the passenger side. Now I've got some Goo Gone some razor blades and I'm trying to get the glue off.

Apparently there is a commercial film that is clear but blocks out UV heat frequencies. They use it on buildings. Perhaps unused on cars due to lack of pimping effect. Or do they?

I would like to know where I can the aboved mentioned clear film with UV/heat blocking properties. I am not a fan of tint, but can appreciate any UV/heat protection for interiors.

The clear tint will protect the interior from UV damage, but I understand that it is not as effective in keeping the interior from heating up.

The best films are made by Formula One and/or 3M. Installation is very important as a poor job is obvious.

This is a pre-purchase photo of my son's new car with mine in the background. The tint on his car is dark but not opaque. I like the way the dark color matches the black trim on the car. My car has a lighter tint that was professionally installed by a Formula One dealer. Current cost for a 911 is $350-$400, add $150 if they need to remove any old tint.

I like tint in general for keeping the car cooler but I removed it from my SC since it's mostly a track car. Here's an easy way:

Spray the inside of the window with Windex or any other glass cleaner that has ammonia in it (notice they tell you when you get tint installed NOT to clean the windows with ammonia-based glass cleaner). Then take a garbage bag and spread it out over the window. Heat up the windows by the method of your choice; park it in the sun for 30 minutes, hairdryer, I put a large spacer heater inside the car. When everything gets nice and warm remove the garbage bag and the tint will peel right off leaving no glue residue.

One caution, if you don't want to remove your tint never leave any liquid in the car on a hot day. A drink or even wet floor mats will cause the tint to bubble and then you will have to remove it.

After 4 years living in the desert, I never heard that one! I am sure that I parked with cups, etc, in the car in the 118 degree heat without any tint bubbles. Can that be true?

We had tint in AZ because you HAD to, as stated above. But I never liked it and never used it on my pcars. Now that we live in Dallas, we don't have tint on any of our cars.

This must only happen with a certain type of tint. I have the windows of my Explorer tinted and I frequently leave drinks in the cup holder. No issues. Ever.

I have darker tint on mine. I purchased the car in Las Vegas so just like those from Arizona it was required due to heat. Although I like the look of the tint and it was professionaly done I find that I dont like the darker side windows especially at night. I plan on removing all tint in the near future. Dark tint on a red Porsche in Calif is asking for a ticket - so far Ive been lucky.
