Best Way to Prevent Theft of a 964?
A thread that is inspired by recent unfortunate news. https://rennlist.com/forums/964-forum/387256-black-burgundy-964-stolen.html
I've been wondering which security system (starter disable etc.) is most trusted/used.
Since I live in NYC i'd like some improved odds.

How about a battery cutoff switch that isn't in obvious view. I've thought about doing that. Any suggestions on the best place to hide a switch? I know if the thieves know what they are doing and search for a cutoff switch, they can find it. But most thieves don't have the patience to hang around long messing with it if the engine doesn't start right away.

To be serious...if they want it, you won't stop it.
Living in a big city, look into LOJACK, other than that, just be vigilant and make sure that your insurance is paid up!

Along the same line, with all the recent trailer thefts reported in the Racing/DE forum, I just added my open-deck aluminum trailer (2008 model bought last year) to my car insurance for $30 for the year!

add a battery cut off switch in the trunk near the battery, run a pull to the dash (ala Cup cars)
Install a cabriolet trunk release w/key (rekey it to your key) and lock it
or add a dme cut off switch (kill pwr to relay) in the glove box (lockable)
but if they want it they will take it - this stuff will only deter the non-pro thief

If someone does have a good idea, probably better to PM you a response if you are seriously going down this route.

Take your DME relay with you. That's the cheapest option and is fool-proof.
But you know if there is a will there is a way. If someone really wanted your car, they'll take it. Do you have any reason to believe your car is a target?

Oh and leave the keys in it.
(Sorry for not being more helpful. Get good insurance and do any combo of what has been recommended. But even if you deter the actual theft, amateurs in particular are going to leave it messed up- no getting around that).
