You have my email - will I be your first sale to Australia?

Thanks,

OK, so I think that my front bushings are gone.

Symptoms are as follows, upon braking the front end shimmys. If I let up on the brake pedal, or hit it hard the shimmy goes away until the next stop.

It all started by "melting" the stock pads to the front rotors at Thunderhill one weekend. Put Pagid's on for 3 more track events, and it really doesn't happen on hard braking. So I think that the rotors have been "cleaned", and I doubt that they are warped based on many posts in here.

Would the front control arm bushings cause a problem like this?

I should probably replace the rotors anyway.

Sounds exactly like brake pad residue. Pagid Orange? Here's a white paper from Stoptech which explains what's going on:

I'd recommend that you run Hawk Blues at the track to remove the excess material.

Worn/tired bushing really show up in a braking turn.
Saw a video (youtube?) of before and after. Before, the wheel was juddering in a quite pronounced fashion in the braking turn. After poly replacement, smooth, with no juddering.
I can't say what other areas squishy bushings might intrude upon.

Just a 'thumbs-up' for Chris' bushings. I installed a set on my 993 a few years ago and have been very pleased with the performance.

FWIW, I've changed a few sets of these for local Rennlisters, but am also willing to refurb arms shipped to me.

Another thumbs up on the CW bushings. I had the same symptoms on my 993. After replacing the bushings no vibrations at all. The car is very direct in terms of steering. Will be replacing the bushings on my dad's 964 next weekend. The rubber on these cars is getting old and will need to be replaced.

Sundog - I think what you have is warped rotors - If you got them really hot they can get a little off center - pull a wheel and check - use a dial caliper - or just a screw driver - rotate the disk and see how much back and forth play you have - do on outer edge

Thanks all for the nice comments. These are still stocked and do make a difference in helping with that mushy steering wheel feel, shimmy, and random brake judder.
